Head of Capital & Investment Manager
Come build the future businesses of southern Sweden with us.
Minc builds the future businesses of Malmö. We are now looking for the person who makes sure the capital is there when entrepreneurs need it.
Minc is one of the Malmö region's leading incubators and innovation organisations, owned by the City of Malmö. We are moving from being a support actor to being a system leader in Malmö's innovation system. In our strategy, access to capital is one of the decisive questions: companies building for growth must be able to get financing at every stage, from the very first steps to the next major round.
For several years we have run investment structures for business angels together with other incubators and Saminvest, including Fast Track Capital and Skåne Ventures. We are now looking for a leader who takes overall responsibility for this work and for strengthening the supply of capital for growth companies in the Malmö region.
The role
As Head of Capital, you lead Minc's investment activities and are responsible for two things that belong together: that our investment structures are run and developed to a high standard, and that innovative growth companies in the region have better access to capital. You report to the CEO.
In practice, you will:
Take the overall responsibility for the investment structures. You are responsible for the angel investment companies, working from first investment to exit: investment process, agreements, governance, reporting to investors and Saminvest, portfolio follow-up and exit work. You are part of a small and ambitious team and you make sure the work gets done in accordance with agreements and with high integrity.
Build the next generation. You develop and drive the creation of new structures together with other incubators, Saminvest and private investors, and negotiate terms and forms of collaboration together with our CEO.
Build and nurture the investor base. You recruit new business angels and other investors, develop the relationships with those already involved, and make it attractive to invest in companies from our region.
Strengthen companies' path to capital. You work closely with our Program team so that companies are investment-ready at the right time, and you help close the capital gaps, both at the earliest stage and ahead of the next larger funding round.
Lead and build processes that scale. You lead a small team and create ways of working that let many small investments in many companies be handled with quality and efficiency.
Be Minc's face on capital matters. You represent Minc towards investors, public capital providers, other incubators and decision-makers, and contribute to Minc's strategy as one of the people who shapes and delivers it.
Who you are
You have made investments in early-stage companies yourself and know how it works in practice. You have negotiated investment agreements and shareholder agreements, worked with different types of investment instruments, and can judge when a term matters. You have also built something: an investor base, a structure or an investment company, and you have been part of raising capital.
You lead through trust and clarity. You have experience leading others, preferably in an organisation where work happens through collaboration. You can create order in an activity with many parties and many small decisions, and you have the judgement to decide what to do yourself, what to delegate and what to drop.
You have:
Hands-on experience of transactions in early-stage companies, including agreements, instruments and negotiation.
Experience of having raised capital or built an investor base.
Experience of leading teams or operations.
An understanding of governance in investment companies, for example the role of the board, general meetings, reporting and annual accounts, enough to steer and review the work.
Experience of exit processes.
Fluent Swedish and English, spoken and written. Swedish is a requirement.
A plus, but not a requirement:
Experience of public co-investment, for example together with Saminvest.
Experience from an incubator or accelerator environment.
Board experience from early-stage companies.
A strong investor network in Sweden and the Nordics.
Good knowledge of the innovation ecosystem and how capital moves within it.
What we offer
A leadership role with real influence over how capital reaches growth companies in the Malmö region, in an organisation that is in the middle of reshaping itself. You take responsibility for an established activity, with a portfolio, investors and partnerships to build on, and the mandate to shape the next step. You work closely with the CEO and our programmes, and contribute to something of long-term importance for entrepreneurs, for Malmö and for the regional business community.
